🧩 Session 1

FUNDAMENTALS & INITIAL DEPLOYMENT
(duration : 4 hours)

1. Overview (30 min)

  • Introduction to Wi-Fi technology and current trends.

  • Overview of the RUCKUS ecosystem: Access Point, Controller (ZoneDirector, SmartZone, Unleashed), Cloud.

  • RUCKUS technologies advantages (BeamFlex, ChannelFly, SmartMesh, etc.).

2. System Architecture & Components (1 hour)

  • RUCKUS deployment models: Standalone, Controller-based, Cloud.

  • Roles of each component: AP, Controller, Switch, DHCP, DNS, etc.

  • Physical connections and basic data flow.

3. Basic Configuration (2 hours)

  • Accessing the Web/CLI interface.

  • Configuring IP, creating SSID, VLAN, password, broadcast, DHCP relay.

  • Basic Controller configuration (Unleashed or ZoneDirector).

  • Lab: Configure 2 APs and test client connection.

4. Practice & Q&A (30 min)

  • Lab: Configure a basic Wi-Fi network with 2 SSIDs (Internal & Guest).

  • Technical Q&A and revie

ADMINISTRATION, OPTIMIZATION & SECURITY
(duration : 4 hours)

1. System Administration (1 hour)

  • Configuring AP groups, profiles, and firmware upgrades.

  • Managing users and admin roles.

  • Backup/Restore configurations.

2. Performance Optimization (1.5 hours)

  • BeamFlex & ChannelFly: concepts and configuration.

  • Load balancing, roaming, mesh network setup.

  • Monitoring performance via Dashboard & Logs.

3. Security & Access Policies (1 hour)

  • Configuring WPA2/WPA3, Captive Portal, 802.1x (Radius).

  • Creating Guest access policies and dynamic VLAN assignment.

4. Lab Practice (30 min)

  • Lab: Configure Guest Wi-Fi with Captive Portal & separate VLAN.

  • Test roaming and real-world performance.

ADVANCED DEPLOYMENT & TROUBLESHOOTING(duration : 4 hours)

1. Advanced Deployment (1.5 hours)

  • Multi-site setup and centralized management with SmartZone.

  • Mesh, WDS, and backup uplink configuration.

  • Integrating RUCKUS Wi-Fi with ICX Switches.

2. Troubleshooting & Analysis (1.5 hours)

  • Log and event analysis.

  • Diagnosing client connectivity, roaming, and throughput issues.

  • Tools: SpeedFlex, CLI Debug, Syslog.

3. Summary & Assessment (1 hour)

  • Full course review.

  • Short theory and hands-on test.

  • Q&A and sharing real-world deployment experience.
